The challenge
Almost all products that are traded internationally are transported in containers. 300 million containers are shipped annually and that number is increasing every year. Vessels and ports are expanding their capacity trying to meet the increasing demand and due to tough competition and depressed rates a key issue is to keep costs per transported container down. The automation process of handling and loading containers is an everyday challenge.
Every day millions of containers are being cleaned for reuse. That cleaning process is not only labor intense, but also poses an environmental threat due to significant use of water and various chemicals. In some parts of the world water is in short supply, and the use of chemicals can have adverse effects on the environment and health. In hot countries, the temperature inside the container can become very high and in combination with chemical cleaners and disinfectants, the job of cleaning a container becomes one with many risks.
Today there is no cleaning solution that is integrated with the demanding container logistics. If you need to service or clean a container you simply take it out of the “flow” and send it for cleaning somewhere else. That process idles containers, increases logistics costs and the negative impact on the environment.
This is where IBC Robotics comes into the picture. We have an automated, cost efficient, dry and environmentally friendly cleaning solution for ship containers that fits perfectly well with today and tomorrow container logistics.
